Job Summary:

Porte is seeking a Development Accounting Manager to join our team of skilled real estate professionals. This role involves active participation in planning and strategy sessions for our portfolio, serving as an expert on the financial aspects of projects. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with development and marketing teams, providing valuable financial insights and support.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting and reporting for the development division.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all development accounting deliverables.
  • Manage the monthly progress draw process.
  • Supervise monthly development reporting.
  • Lead monthly budget review meetings for development projects.
  • Oversee regulatory filings, including GST.
  • Conduct monthly trial balance reviews.
  • Ensure that all development accounting is performed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, ASPE, IFRS etc., as required.
  • Collaborate with Development, Construction, Marketing, and Finance teams to monitor and update project budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare accurate project cash forecasts.
  • Review project budgets and forecasts, addressing discrepancies with relevant budget holders.
  • Plan and execute all development accounting activities to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines.
  • Manage the condo closing process with lawyers, ensuring the accuracy of financial information and the timing of cash flows.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in development accounting.
  • Strong writing and self-review skills.
  • Excellent technical and administrative skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive mindset, comfortable challenging the status quo to enhance efficiency and competitive advantage.
  • Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Assertive, yet encourages a goal-oriented mindset.
  • High level of organization.
  • Effective at working both independently and within teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Technologically savvy.
  • Deadline-driven.

  • Salary Range: $95,000 – $125,000.
